The Nürburgring is one of the most beautiful racetracks in Europe and probably enjoys the “highest” cult status. The “Nordschleife“ ("Northern Loop") is the legendary part of the racetrack, which is either traditionally called “The Ring” or respectfully called “The Green Hell”. This is due to the legendary racing driver Jackie Stewart. Today the Nürburgring consists of the big “Nordschleife“ and the modern “Grandprixstrecke”( Grand Prix track), with a length of 5.148 km ( 2002), which must be driven 60 times. The Nürburgring is open for tourists as well, especially at weekends without a race and in the evening. Apart from the racetracks, there are other motorsport facilities and leisure facilities.

Hint: Day trip on the Rur with a canoe or double kayak from Heimbach to Zerkall. It takes 4.5 hours to manage this route section of 14 km.
Rursee Schwammenauel
